The Alpha Zeta Housemother

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone on the AGR web. My name is Dianna Philippi, and I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself as House Mom at AGR at Kansas State. I knew from the moment I interviewed this was the place I wanted to be. Six months later I made a great choice in accepting the position.

I grew up in Hamilton, Missouri (about 75 miles north of KC) in a small farming community. My parents were both involved in the family cattle business, row crops, and custom baling. While I have been away from the farm for 40 years, I am still a country girl at heart. It has been wonderful to live with guys who love the farm life as much as I always did, and thru their stories it has rekindled many fond memories of my farming years.

I married and moved to Manhattan in 1981. I was blessed to have the most wonderful husband I could have ever asked for. Unfortunately a brain tumor took his life at age 52. During our marriage we had one son and were foster parents for 15 years. My son has an 8 year old daughter who is the love of my life.

I graduated from high school in 1970 and attended Missouri Western College in St. Joseph, Missouri majoring in business management. My first job was at a large corporate home office dealing with multi-line insurance. I moved to Kansas City in 1979, and took a position with a trucking company. I met my husband, married and moved to Manhattan. I accepted a position in 1986 with the Kansas State University Athletic Department working with donors to the athletic scholarship fund. It was a dream job working with both fans who bled purple and the student-athletes who were so much fun to interact with. There were some other adventures I wanted to do while I was still able, so while I miss athletics I am happy with all of the fun things I have been able to do. I was House Mom at Sigma Kappa Sorority for 5 years, moved to Phi Kappa Theta for two years, and had always heard so many positive comments from my other K-State House Mom friends about the men at AGR. They were right. They are respectful, loving and fun. Sorry guys you are stuck with me because the next move I make will be to the nursing home or the cemetery!
